City Networks
The three largest cities in the Rhône-Alpes region (Lyon, Grenoble and Saint-Etienne) and the Regional Council work together to coordinate joint or coherent operations in some areas. Lyon’s desire to position itself as the capital of the Rhône-Alpes region has led it to forge new international partnerships with the Regional Council. For example, the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council has begun working with the Rabat-Salé region in Morocco and, at the same time, Lyon has set up cooperation programs with the Rabat Urban Community.
With the naming of an International Action Coordinator in the Greater Lyon council, the City of Lyon and Greater Lyon can work more closely together. Each institution handles the projects that fall within its scope of action.
