Coming to Lyon
The Rhône-Alpes region is a vital crossroads of international connections, via the Rhone valley, the Alpine passages, seven airports, navigable waterways and the tunnels of Mont-Blanc and Fréjus. The Rhone valley has always been a major axis for road and river traffic. Lyon has taken full advantage of this prime location by developing a network of exceptional infrastructures: Lyon Saint-Exupéry international airport with its TGV high-speed train station facilitating air-rail connections, the highly developed TGV network and freeway system. The local authorities are further developing the urban public transportation system. The Rhône-Alpes Region contributes to the expansion of rail transport.
Lyon's eastern bypass has been completed. A project for a western bypass is being studied.
