Confluence park

For the festivities celebrating the new millennium, the Junior City Council of Lyon commissioned a work of art for the confluence point of the Rhone and Saône rivers.

Inaugurated on December 8, 2000, the work by Ange Leccia is meant to stimulate reflection on the theme of youth, its vitality and carefree ways. The work integrates three messages selected from a survey of young people of Lyon:

"Small or large, the important thing is to have your feet on the ground"

"Our world will remain in darkness if we deny humanity"

"For the 3rd millennium, all children equal on earth"

The neon messages are reflected in a glass case. The lights never go out and they mark the southern gateway to the city.

This work will be installed in the completed Confluence Park.
